Tips on Newborn/ Size 1 Diapers for CHEAP

Not every diaper works for each child, also there are a variety of styles within each brand. At the beginning and I would say up to size 2 you want to use swaddlers or little snugglers. These fit the best for infants and can hold more without coming out the sides.

My stock up price for diapers at the newborn/size 1 level was normally under $0.15 a diaper ( I preferred $0.12) . You can normally do this at Drug Stores/ Target/Harris Teeter. Sometimes you can get great deals where you can get the jumbo packs for under $5.00 that is always a great deal. BJ's has good deals - but unless you have a BJ's coupon and a Manufacturer Coupon it wasn't cheaper then buying at target when there was a good sale.

Harris Teeter has been great for my diapers only because I could use a Harris Teeter evic coupon which is normally $2.50 off and a manufacturer coupon which is normally $2.00 so you already get $4.50 off. If they are on sale sometimes the prices are $9.99 or less so ideally paying $5.49.

As the sizes go up, the number of diapers in each pack goes down. There are 40 swaddlers diapers per newborn jumbo bag. So...$0.13 for each diaper. Also - if they are having double coupons which they have once a month normally.... You would get the $2.50 off and the $2.00 would double to $4.00 since they double everything during that week up to $2.00.... if you bought during this deal you would only pay $0.08 a diaper. I do the same thing with wipes and normally can walk away with a free package of wipes. Wipes are normally $2.99 a package. Then when on sale they are normally $2.00. You have a $0.50 off coupon which doubles any day at Harris Teeter to $1.00 - then you have an evic that is $0.50 normally each month. So you would pay $0.50 for a pack of wipes or free if you have high value coupons.

You can almost completely skip size 2. The weights covered in size 1 and 3 almost completely overlap size 2. Size 1 generally covers 0-14 lb, Size 2 12-18 lb and size 3 16-28 lb. So really the only weight not covered by size 1 or 3 is 14-16 lbs. You should be ok to skip size 2 and go straight to size 3.
